The MP9000/MT9000 series is ideal for turning difficult-to-cut materials such as titanium, heat resistant and corrosion resistant alloys typically used in the aircraft and medical industries. To expand the application options available, new positive inserts have been added to the range for boring and small parts machining.
The new chip breakers within the range also help prevent problems such as continuous chip wrapping and chipping of the cutting edge. The 9000 series has a good reputation from customers by providing superior wear, fracture and welding resistance and for also enabling longer tool life.
1.The high Al-(Al,Ti)N single layer coating containing a high aluminum content has succeeded to stabilize high hardness layer and deliver overwhelmingly high wear, crater and welding resistance. The first recommendation is MP9015 whilst MP9005 is used when focusing on wear resistance and finishing.
2.The positive inserts of the un-coated carbide grade MT9005 cover high speed cutting due to the excellent heat and plastic deformation resistance properties.
3.The LS breaker optimized for light cutting prevents chip welding of the insert to ensure good surface finishes. The MS breaker optimized for medium cutting employes a bigger chip pocket, minimizes vibration and provides a smooth chip flow for low cutting resistance.
