Series Expansion – New Cutter Body and Insert Added to the WSX445 Series Low Cutting Resistance, Double Sided Insert Face Mill for General Machining

The WSX445 series with the proprietary Double Sided Z Geometry has received a favorable reception in the market place as a revolutionary face milling cutter that provides excellent economy due to the double sided insert (4-corner inserts). It also achieves low cutting resistance by utilizing features of both positive and negative rake inserts.

Diameters φ63 and φ80 have been added to the shank type cutter body and a new H chipbreaker for heavy cutting and L chipbreaker for non-ferrous alloy cutting have been added to complement the existing range. Additionally, MC5020 a new CVD coated grade for cast iron machining has also been added to allow wider range of applications.

Features of the insert to be added to the WSX445 series

1.MC5020 is a CVD coated grade suitable for machining cast iron. It has excellent abrasion resistance and gives long tool life by controlling chipping and thermal cracking that can occur when machining nodular cast iron.

2.The H chipbreaker features a strong cutting edge specially designed for heavy cutting and interrupted cutting.

3.The L chipbreaker for non-ferrous alloy cutting delivers substantially better welding resistance due to a sharp cutting edge and polished rake face.
